Ireland’s acclaimed motorsports photographer Dr. Esler Crawford and Alan (Plum) Tyndall have been enthusiastic supporters of the Donegal International Rally since its inception in 1972. Who better then to recall, both visually and in words, meeting their ‘Heroes of the Hills’.
It started back in 1972 with triple winner Cathal Curley and since then many of the world’s top drivers have been seen in action in Donegal including three World Champions, Ari Vatanen, Sebastien Loeb and Colin McRae.
Interestingly the last winner in this book’s forty-six year span is Manus Kelly, who, like Curley, is also a triple winner.
