He made his name in Group 1 Escorts and then progressed to his first Tarmac title in a Vauxhall Chevette. His rallying then continued with Manta 400s, a BMW M3, Toyota Celica GT4s, which brought him two successive Tarmac titles, to the latest WRC Ford Focus, in which the second generation of McHales are continuing to perpetuate the McHale rallying dynasty.
Austin’s rivalries with one time team-mate Billy Coleman, and his great friend Bertie Fisher are graphically illustrated in this marathon DVD. Improvisation, determination and loyalty have always been central to the McHale team who have stayed together and battled against works drivers and the other Irish aces.
